In the annual Equinox Hill Climb (Gear Up For Lyme), there is a 500-dollar prime for the first rider to the 1 mile mark. Occasionally the prime is won by the same person who wins the the whole thing, but often trying for the 500 dollars will ruin your chances of being first to the top.
